All Souls Choir

All Souls is a singing congregation! Music is a vital aspect of our services. The All Souls Choir is a key contributor to our congregation’s worship life.

The All Souls Choir is comprised of singers from All Souls Unitarian Universalist Congregation, and we're always happy to welcome new singers! If you're new to All Souls, joining the choir is a wonderful way to get connected. If you already attend All Souls and have considered joining the choir, maybe now is the time. Anyone can join the All Souls Choir! All you have to do is simply show up at one of our regular Thursday evening rehearsals. We rehearse from 6:30 - 8 pm, from September to June, so just arrive about ten minutes early and we'll get you oriented.

The All Souls Choir usually sings at two Sunday services each month, September through June, and take the summer off. We sing a wide variety of styles and genres.

Here are a few Frequently Asked Questions:

WHEN DOES THE CHOIR REHEARSE?

We rehearse Thursday nights from 6:30 - 8:00 pm in All Souls Unity Hall, September through mid-June.

DO I NEED TO BE A MEMBER OF ALL SOULS TO SING IN THE CHOIR?

No. Anyone is welcome to sing in the choir.

IS THERE AN AUDITION?

Nope. All you have to do is show up and sing!

WHO DIRECTS THE CHOIR? - Kathryn Aaron is our choir director.

I DON'T HAVE VERY MUCH SINGING EXPERTISE OR EXPERIENCE. CAN I STILL BE IN THE ALL SOULS CHOIR?

Yes. The choir has singers from diverse backgrounds, from professional musicians to people who have no formal training. Just being in the choir will help you build skills, so you'll continue to improve each time you come to rehearsal.

HOW OFTEN DOES THE CHOIR SING?

We sing approximately every other Sunday, September through June. We also sing some special services such as an occasional Wednesday night Vespers service, on Christmas Eve, and memorial services.

DO I HAVE TO BE IN THE CHOIR ALL YEAR?

No. Come any time. The choir meets September through June, and is off July & August.

WHAT IF I CAN'T ALWAYS BE THERE? WHAT IS THE ATTENDANCE POLICY?

We understand that everybody is busy. While we would love to have everybody at every rehearsal and service, we know that life sometimes prohibits perfect attendance. Be there as much as you can, and when you can't make it, no worries.  Just let our choir director know.

WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO KNOW?

Singing in the All Souls Choir is fun! You will meet new friends, improve your voice, improve your musical skills, sing new musical styles, and enjoy a break from the rigors of life.

ARE THERE OTHER WAYS I CAN BE INVOLVED IN MUSIC AT ALL SOULS?

Yes. We host a Friday Night Folk performance series, have guest musicians in Sunday worship, the children sometimes sing in services, and other opportunities. Talk to Kathryn or a member of the ministerial staff if you're interested.

HOW DO I JOIN?

Just show up to a Thursday night rehearsal.

CAN I COME TO A REHEARSAL TO SEE WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT BEFORE I DECIDE WHETHER OR NOT I WANT TO JOIN?

Sure. Glad to have you.
